Cabin, gate-check or cargo — the folded size decides
No Indian airline lets you wheel a pram down the aisle. What they offer instead is one free collapsible stroller per infant, usually handed over at the boarding gate and returned when you land. The cabin is the exception: it only happens when the folded stroller passes as your hand baggage — within the airline's published size and weight limits.
Three things decide your outcome: the folded dimensions (length × width × height, measured with the handlebar down and wheels on), the weight, and the airline's rule — IndiGo and Akasa use a 55 × 35 × 25 cm sizer, Air India 55 × 40 × 20 cm, Air India Express 56 × 36 × 23 cm, and SpiceJet keeps strollers out of the cabin altogether. A stroller that fits any way round can fly in the cabin; one that doesn't is gate-checked free; a rigid pram goes as checked or oversized baggage.

Five things that save a stroller at the airport
Tag it before the airport
Put a luggage tag with your name and phone number on the stroller (and inside the basket). Gate handovers at busy airports put hundreds of prams in one lineup.
Measure it folded, not "cabin-approved"
Marketing labels mean nothing at the gate. Compare your folded L × W × H against the airline's sizer and remove anything detachable — hoods, cup holders, wheels where they clip off.
Carry a protection bag
Gate-checked strollers ride in the hold with the rest of the luggage. A travel bag or even the rain cover keeps the fabric clean and straps from snagging.
Lock the fold and strip accessories
Before handing it over, fold and latch it, remove trays and toys, and take out anything valuable. A stroller that pops open on the belt can come back bent.
Decide counter vs gate before security
